As a child me and my dad had a not that close relationship, he didn’t care much about me, he was busy at work and it seemed like he had just forgotten about me, as a child it didn’t bother me. but later on, I was too desperate to connect with him and had no option but to look for the right way to do it.
That changed one summer when I decided to go smoke with my dad, it was his passion, the only thing that he was doing on the weekends when he wasn’t working. So I gave smoking a try myself. I asked my dad for guidance, expecting a quick answer. Instead, he lit up—more excited than I had ever seen him. What followed was a deep dive into wood types, heat control, and secret rubs that he had been tested.
Smoking became our thing. Weekends turned into experiments, mistakes turned into lessons, and soon enough, we were competing to see who could make the best ribs. The more I learned, the more I realized how incredible the world of smoking really is—not just for the food, but for the connections it creates, the stories, and how it can effect someone’s life (crazy right?).
